Talking Tech Trio: NIST’s Ron Ross on Securing Cloud
Ron Ross literally wrote the book on cloud security as the lead figure behind NIST 800-53, the cloud security standards, and controls required of Federal cloud solutions. NIST 800-53 underpins FedRAMP, the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program.
In the first of a series of GovTechWorks video interviews, Ross explains how the standard instills trust in FedRAMP and how FedRAMP, in turn, is instilling trust in cloud technologies. Trust, he says, is critical to adoption, and providing Federal IT decision makers with options – such as public or private clouds, or varying levels of security – is essential to gaining wider adoption of cloud infrastructure, programs, and platforms.
