Talking Tech: TSA’s Mobile App with Lynn Dean

The Transportation Security Administration touches millions of travelers every day, people seeking information about wait times and what they can and can’t take with them on a plane.

Those people are mobile, so call centers and desktop websites aren’t convenient. TSA needed an app.

Lynn Dean, senior advisor to the TSA Administrator, was part of a large, cross-functional team – lawyers, policy makers, customer-service specialists and developers – who joined together to create apps for iPhone and Android users, as well as a mobile-web version for those who choose not to download the free apps.

“We wanted to go beyond just our website and give them information in their hands, 24/7,” Dean says.
